Heading In To Boston

Closet Photographer Going to a Business Meeting...

So there I was driving into Boston... in rush hour...

going to a meeting...

Late Summer - Early Fall 2015

boston rush hour

I was kind of bored sitting there in traffic.
So, I snapped off a few shots of Boston
at rush hour.
And what do you know, Google made a cool animation.

Then as I got closer to town, I saw some of this....

I love this shot of the crowded Boston skyline and highway with the billboard thrown in.

I saw it two days later on Facebook with comedian Kevin James's picture on that exact same billboard. Wish I took a screenshot...

Then as I turned on to State Street for the first time, I got a clear visual on why they call it that.
Just take a look at that old beautiful state house that used to be the center of government in the city of Boston.... and surrounded by all that modern construction and cars. To me it just speaks volumes about past and present. Glad I could get the shot.

This Boston brownstone in Beacon Hill caught my eye too. Just classic Boston in every way.

Note the up looking angle --
which features the blue sky and cloud,
as well as allows the viewer to feel the
scale of the building.
I almost wish the car was not there...
but it kind of lends
a sense of urgency and movement that
belongs in a city photo.

Now I am parked and out of my car walking on the streets of Boston. I'm looking up of course, as I often do because I love cityscapes and landscapes in general.

This scene caught my eye as I was walking. I had to remind myself to watch the traffic lights. Oh don't put me in a new city and give me a camera.....

But the best I saved for last. My quest for the perfect picture came suddenly....

I almost tripped on the curb as several Bostonians looked at me with an obvious "you look like a tourist" look.
But I got this baby. And it was worth the effort.
Note the clouds are real.... not Photoshop-ped.  Ha.

Can you believe this thing??

I can't, and I've been taking pictures for fun and work for many years.

I'm telling you that when my eyes caught this image, I would have knocked people over in my rush to capture it on film... er.. SD card.

Just look at what man and nature put together...

majestic tall glass building reflecting clouds like an Ansel Adams photo...juxtaposed with old world almost medieval looking church and rotunda.

The composition combines grid and box shape with round and jagged all in one.

The angle is stark and unusual. But actually is very authentic, because it is through the eyes of a newcomer, an accidental tourist.  Me. Native NY-er.

Well, I finally made it to my business meeting, which was actually a staff meeting for the AMA Boston. That stands for the American Marketing Institute.

This photo you see to the left was exactly across the street from our staff meeting that evening at one volunteer's place of work.

 So,
I bet you think the blog is over, but
there is one more photo.

It's no big deal, just the lobby elevators
of the building I ended up in for my meeting.

Nice floors metallic and wood molded walls.
Elegant lantern style light fixtures reflect to form a
path down the marble hallway. Very nice to look at.

Well, that IS the end of this photo blog, on the subject of
photos, and boston, and my photographic journey. Hope you
enjoyed the trip, and look for more photo trips from me.

Thanks for watching.

P.S.  I'm not sure if I mentioned, I also plan on sharing some video moments in future blogs.
